Вы сделали функцию внутри другой:

void next() { ... } // Illegal !
...
}
Это запрещено для обычных функций (вы также можете сделать это с помощью лямбда-функций). Я думаю, вы запутались между функцией и goto прыжки (что не очень хорошая практика). Я думаю, что вам не нужна функция в вашем случае. Потому что функция next имеет много зависимостей от локальных переменных main. Кстати, вы можете поместить внутреннюю функцию вне основной функции.
И хороший отступ может помочь вам организовать и отформатировать ваш код.
